Namibia packing and practical travel preparation
Prepare for desert dust, a cool coast and early safari drives, with luggage suited to your actual transport.

Table of Contents
Build the packing list around the exact transport and activities booked, rather than treating every Namibian outing alike.
Pack for the route
Use your itinerary to build the bag: lightweight clothing for the interior, warm layers for cool mornings and a windproof layer for the coast. Closed shoes are useful for the walks specified by your operator. A hat, sunglasses and sun protection belong on the packing list, with drinking water arranged for the actual day.
Protect cameras and documents
Dust and sand require a protective bag for camera equipment. For Pelican Point kayaking, the provider recommends a dry bag if you take a phone or camera onto the water. Keep travel documents accessible and retain booking details offline. The selected Sandwich Harbour activity excludes large luggage and drones; do not assume an activity vehicle carries all of your travel baggage.
Know your carrier’s luggage rules
Check allowances with the airline, shuttle, rental supplier and any lodge transfer you actually book. A baggage limit on an international flight does not define the allowance on a light-aircraft connection. Confirm soft-bag requirements where relevant, rather than buying luggage for an imagined universal rule.
Confirm the paperwork and vehicle
Check entry requirements through the official authority for your nationality and itinerary; do not rely on another traveller’s passport experience. For self-drive, check rental terms, permitted roads, insurance, assistance and the vehicle’s suitability. Distances alone do not establish safe or feasible driving times. Park access rules and fees require a current check.
A final check for every activity
Read the age, mobility and participation requirements with the specific supplier. Record pickup address, date, time, excluded charges and return arrangements. The site cannot assess individual medical suitability. For health questions, consult a qualified professional using your route and dates. Before leaving your accommodation, check the local conditions and the operator’s message.
